St. Louis Music Therapy is looking to fill a Full-Time board-certified music therapist position to work primarily within the:

 

CHILDREN (EARLY CHILDHOOD)

INDIVIDUALS OF VARYING ABILITIES

GERIATRIC, PALLIATIVE CARE

Candidate must have board certification, be CPR trained or willing to get CPR trained and carry his/her own liability insurance. If they are not CPR trained, a free training course will be offered prior to their first session.

Level 2 Job Description

Under the direction of a lead music therapist, provides quality and professional music therapy services to clients and families; clinically assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates music therapy interventions; collaborates with the MTSTL team and other healthcare professionals to plan and coordinate continuity of care. This position requires at minimum MT-BC and 1-3 years experience.

This position involves: session scheduling, strong communication skills, creating and implementing music therapy therapeutic interventions, strong professional skills, reviewing data analysis (if applicable), providing external education as a part of community outreach (when appropriate), creating reports and collaborating as a MTSTL team member and other healthcare professionals in order to meet the specific needs of MTSTL clientele and their families.

In addition, the Music Therapist will also conduct music therapy sessions and provide accurate and timely session documentation for any client/facility/contract receiving services in client’s homes or existing programming sites.

 

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include any and/or all of the following:

  • Provides music therapy services to clients receiving services. Serving clientele from children to adults of all ages; specializing in an overall umbrella of skill set from disabilities to end-of-life. All caseload will be reviewed and finalized with MTSTL.

  • Will provide on-going clinical evaluation and documentation of client progress in a timely, efficient manner

  • Provides in-services and other training to educate about music therapy; provides training to music therapy practicum and intern students from universities

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy

  • Board Certification in Music Therapy

  • Ability to create innovative ways to conduct therapeutic/interactive sessions with clients/groups

  • Timely and strong communication skills

  • Team-player attitude with motivation mindset

  • Strong professional skills

  • Demonstrate solutions-focused examples with clients

  • Ability to create and execute effective presentations regarding the benefits of music therapy for various populations as a part of community outreach (when approved by supervisor)

  • General knowledge of medical illnesses, disabilities, and treatments associated with assigned clientele

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Consistent, professional follow-up with MTSTL and programming sites

  • Strong musical skills (including: voice, guitar and piano proficient)

  • Ability to read and write music

  • Ability to analyze patient needs, formulate music therapy plans, and assess/evaluate therapeutic/interactive, appropriate interventions

  • Proven ability to work with many cultures and provide music indigenous to a variety of cultures

  • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to prioritize and organize delivery of music therapy services
